Field Mapper Privacy Policy

VKLink Field Mapper for Android
Last updated: 10 October 2026

This policy explains how VKLink Field Mapper and its VKLink upload service handle your information. The app is provided by VKLink. For privacy questions, access, correction or deletion requests, use the Field Mapper privacy contact form.

In brief: field mapping can be used locally. Connecting to an NTRIP caster sends position and authentication information to that caster. Uploading a field sends its geometry and labels to VKLink. We do not use your field data for advertising.

1. Information stored on your device

The app stores settings and field records on your device so they remain available after a restart. These can include grower, farm and field names; boundary, AB-line, obstacle and keep-out coordinates; recorded geometry and coverage; datum and coordinate-epoch labels; implement settings; and receiver configuration.

Connection settings include Bluetooth receiver identifiers, NTRIP server details, usernames and passwords, and rover upload Device IDs and tokens. These settings are not a general collection of your contacts or accounts. Treat your device and exported maps as sensitive. The app disables Android's standard app-data backup; files you export or copy yourself are outside that setting.

2. Location and receiver information

With your permission, the app can use the phone's location, or positions supplied by a connected Bluetooth GNSS receiver, for mapping and visual guidance. Receiver data may include coordinates, height, time, fix quality, speed and heading. Local mapping does not itself upload your field.

When you enable an NTRIP connection, the app sends the configured username and password and periodically sends a GGA position message to your selected caster. This can include precise coordinates, height, time and fix-related information. The caster uses this to authenticate the connection and provide suitable corrections. A third-party caster is governed by that provider's practices. You can stop the connection or use local mapping without it.

3. Field uploads to VKLink

When you choose Upload, the app sends field data to the VKLink rover service at gps.vklink.com.au. This includes grower, farm and field names, boundary coordinates, AB lines, obstacles, keep-outs, relevant timestamps, spatial-reference labels and the configured correction mountpoint. A grower name may identify a person. The request also sends your rover Device ID and token to authenticate the upload and associate it with your customer account.

VKLink stores uploaded fields and generated files so you can view, process and download them through the portal. They are not made publicly available by the upload action. Authorised VKLink personnel may access them to operate the service or resolve support issues. Server records may also contain connection times, source IP addresses, authentication results and error information for operating and securing the service.

4. Purchases

Optional GPS-access unlocks are purchased through Google Play. The app uses purchase status, product identifiers and purchase tokens returned by Google Play to enable, acknowledge and restore the appropriate features. The app does not receive your card number or banking details. Google handles payment information under Google's privacy policy. Uninstalling the app does not erase Google's purchase records.

5. Camera, Bluetooth and exports

Camera access is used to scan rover-credential QR codes when you choose that feature. The app uses the decoded credential data; it does not retain or upload the camera image. Bluetooth permissions are used to find and communicate with a GNSS receiver, including sending correction data to it.

You can export mapping files or share them through another app, such as your email app. You choose the destination. The receiving app or recipient then controls that copy. Field exports may contain precise coordinates and identifying labels. This feature does not give VKLink access to your mailbox, messages or contacts.

6. How we use and disclose information

Information is used for mapping, GNSS connections, correction delivery, upload authentication, field processing, purchase restoration and service support/security. The app does not include advertising, behavioural analytics or an automatic crash-report upload service. We do not sell your field data or use it to target advertisements.

Information can be handled by providers needed to deliver these services, such as hosting and payment providers, or disclosed where legally required. Your selected external NTRIP provider and the recipients of files you deliberately share receive the data needed for those actions.

7. Transmission security

Uploads to the production VKLink rover endpoint use HTTPS. Plain NTRIP is not encrypted: when you connect to a plain NTRIP caster, position messages and credentials travel without TLS encryption. Do not reuse a valuable password for a correction login. Not all information transmitted by the app is encrypted in transit. Bluetooth security also depends on your device and receiver. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

8. Retention and deletion

Local settings and field records remain until you delete them or clear the app's storage or uninstall it. Clear storage removes all local app data, so export anything you wish to keep first. Copies saved to Downloads, sent by email or stored elsewhere must be deleted separately. Removing local data does not remove a previous server upload.

Uploaded fields are retained to provide your portal's mapping and download functions until you request their deletion or account closure. To request deletion of uploaded fields or your VKLink account, use the Field Mapper privacy contact form and include your account email or Device ID and the data you want removed. Do not send your password or token. We may ask you to verify that you are authorised to make the request.

Some records may need to be retained for legal obligations, transaction records, security or resolving a dispute. We will explain relevant exceptions when handling your request. Deleted data may remain in restricted backup copies until those backups are replaced or expire; it is not available for normal use. Records held by Google, another NTRIP provider or a recipient of your export must be addressed with that party.

9. Your choices and policy changes

You can refuse or revoke location, camera and nearby-device permissions in Android settings, stop NTRIP, decline uploads and use available local functions. Refusing a permission can prevent the feature that needs it from working. The app is intended for adult agricultural and mapping users, not directed at children.

We may update this policy as features or service practices change. The updated version will be published here with its revision date. You can contact VKLink using the address above if anything is unclear.
